Ford's Fundraising Fiasco

Rep. Harold Ford Jr. was all set to hold a fundraiser at a "trendy" spot in San Francisco, but it was postponed because local politicians learned of Ford's opposition to gay marriage. The delay will give Ford time to find new sponsors for the event, now that sponsors like San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (who grabbed national headlines when he performed gay marriages) have learned that Ford voted for a constitutional ban on gay marriages.

"It came to my attention that there were a few people in San Francisco concerned about my opposition to gay marriages," Ford said Tuesday.

Gee, in San Francisco? Who would'a thunk it?

Ford has raised $3 million for his Senate campaign, with a stated goal of $12 million.

Blogging Bob Krumm to Run for Senate

Krumm is seriously thinking of taking on 35-year incumbent Democrat Douglas Henry for representation of District 21, no mean feat. He asks for input and gives his reason for running as a desire to put ethics into Tennessee politics:

As they have already, my positions on the issues will continue to excite some of you, and will upset others. However, I think that most Tennesseans will agree with me that unless we can first trust our elected leaders to act in our best interests, the politics, policies, and partisanship that often divide us, really matters very little.

True. I'll be interested to see his platform develop.

Justified Shoots Up in Memphis

The CA reports that the number of shootings in Memphis judged to be justified has reached 21 so far this year. Last time this year there were only 10.

"There's only one rule: If you are in fear of your life. What's the perception?" he said. "You have a right to act accordingly."
